Siapa yang tidak tertarik dengan kerajinan keramik yang unik dan lucu? Apalagi kita bisa praktek langsung melalui setiap workshopnya. Hmm menarik bukan? Yuk, kenalan langsung dengan Damar, pemilik handcrafted ceramics @damdam_handcraftedceramics.

Tidak ada yang menyangka bahwa Damar, seorang pengusaha handcrafted ceramics yang sudah sering menjadi pembicara di beberapa event lokarya keramik bersama teman baiknya, Adhy Putra K ini ternyata dulunya adalah seorang karyawan kantoran.

Lalu, mengapa ia bisa terjun di dunia bisnis handcrafted ceramics ini ya?

Usut punya usut, pada saat itu, ia sedang dilanda krisis keresahan hati dimana dalam posisi yang sudah terbilang nyaman, ia ternyata membutuhkan suasana baru di dalam kehidupannya. Ia menginginkan suatu perubahan dalam hidupnya dimana menurutnya membuka suatu usaha dapat menjadi solusi.

 

Semangat dalam berusaha semakin berkobar tatkala temannya, Adhy Putra K meyakinkan Damar untuk kembali menekuni dunia keramik yang telah ia kuasai sejak duduk di bangku perkuliahan. Berbekal semangat serta dukungan dari teman terbaiknya, @damdam_handcraftedceramics terlahir dan terus berkarya hingga saat ini.

Darah seni yang mengalir di dalam diri alumnus Seni Rupa Institut Kesenian Jakarta ini ternyata diturunkan dari almarhum ayahnya dan semakin disempurnakan oleh sosok Adhy Putra K yang telah memantapkan dirinya untuk terjun langsung dan belajar banyak tentang dunia keramik.

Dalam mencari inspirasi, Damar mengaku hanya memanfaatkan social media dan sisanya dikembangkannya sendiri.

Untuk bahan baku, Damar mengaku mendapatkannya dari beberapa pemasok yang sudah dikenalnya. Semua bahan pewarna ia dapatkan dari daerah Bandung, namun untuk material tanah ia dapatkan dari daerah Bekasi. Kendala terbesarnya adalah kesabaran ekstra dalam membuat setiap karya keramiknya. Karena jika gagal, ia mau tak mau harus mengulangnya lagi dari awal. Untuk itu, penting sekali bagi pecinta kuliner ini untuk menjaga moodya sendiri.

Itulah mengapa pembuatan keramik membutuhkan waktu yang tidak sedikit karena si pembuat harus berkompromi dengan diri, alam, juga tungku pembakaran. Keramik tidak akan selesai jika cuaca tidak mendukung untuk pengeringan keramik. Butuh panas yang stabil agar keramik – keramik tersebut dapat kering secara sempurna.

Berbeda dengan proses sebelumnya yang sangat terpaku pada alam, proses berikutnya ditentukan oleh tungku pembakaran. Dimana tidak setiap hasil yang kita inginkan sesuai dengan yang apa yang diharapkan dan jika memang hasilnya tak sesuai, mau tak mau si pembuat harus mengulang kembali proses pembuatan dari awal hingga mendapatkan hasil yang di inginkan.

 

@damdam_handcraftedceramics tidak hanya menjual barang yang sudah tersedia saja, mereka juga menerima pesanan dengan bentuk sesuai permintaan dan dapat dipesan satuan. Akan tetapi, harga yang ditawarkan pastinya jauh berbeda dibandingkan dengan pemesanan diatas dua lusin.

Dalam pembuatan setiap keramiknya, Damar membutuhkan waktu sekitar 7 hari. 1 hari digunakan untuk pembuatan dari bentuk tanah liat menjadi bentuk apa yang diinginkan. Proses selanjutnya adalah pengeringan dimana ia membutuhkan waktu kurang lebih 3 hingga 4 hari tergantung kondisi cuaca, setelah itu adalah proses pembakaran di dalam tungku dengan panas mencapai 700 – 900 derajat celcius selama 1 hari. Lalu proses akhirnya membutuhkan waktu 2 hari untuk proses pendinginan juga pewarnaan keramik sebelum di bakar lagi dengan panas sekitar 1000 hingga 1200 derajat celcius.

 

Untuk perawatan keramik tersendiri tidak membutuhkan cara khusus, ”cukup menjaganya agar tidak pecah”, celetuknya. Selain daerah Jabodetabek, pria yang mempunyai hobi kulineran ini sudah memasarkan produknya hingga ke beberapa kota diseluruh penjuru Indonesia.

Pria 36 tahun ini berharap agar local brand keramik di Indonesia selalu eksis dan di perhatikan oleh pemerintah karena usaha ini adalah usaha yang menjanjikan, agar para seniman – seniman keramik lokal sepertinya dapat diakui.
